“Shego!” Kim exclaimed, “I’m not wearing that!”

“Sure you are, Pumpkin.” Shego’s sure and confident tone made her sound like it’d already been decided. It wasn’t even close.

“No way! It’s tacky, and it has a tail, and…. It just isn’t me.”

“That’s the point.” Shego said as she sat on Kim’s bed and watched Kim throw the one-piece next to her, “Halloween is about coming as you aren’t. It’s about setting yourself free without thoughts of consequences.”

“I don’t know.” Kim was starting to waver.

“It has a mask. It’s not like anyone’s going to recognise you, Kimmie.”

Kim began to relent when she got an idea that would pay Shego back for the humiliation she was about to endure for her, “I’ll do it on one condition.” Shego didn’t trust the glint that suddenly appeared in Kim’s eyes.

“What is it?”

Kim started rustling through her closet till she found the item she was looking for. When she pulled it out Shego took a step back, horrified.

“There’s no way I’m wearing that. I don’t care what day it is.”

“Come on. As you said…”

“I don’t care what I said before.”

“It’s got a mask.” Kim mocked echoing Shego’s early words.

“There’s no way that can fit me.”

“Mom’ll sort that out. Make some extra room for you.”

Shego lit her hands, fully intending to destroy the offending pieces of fabric. That’s when Kim unleashed her secret weapon. Her eyes went round and her bottom lip quivered. Shego stopped dead in her tracks; the puppy dog pout had her.

“I hate you.” Shego croaked out, relenting to her girlfriend, “And that stupid pout….”

Kim silenced her with a small kiss on her, still moving, lips, “It won’t be so bad, will it?”

The older woman reared a bit from the unexpected, but not unwelcome, gesture, “Well, maybe I can survive for one night. We’d better win though.”

“Of course we’ll win. Who could beat us?”

“And the winners of this years Halloween costume competition, ‘Heroes and Rivals’, goes to…. Kim Possible and Shego!”

There was a clattering of clapping and cheering from nearly everyone as two women rose to the stage.

As they accepted their prize and started making a small speech two other women standing at the back of the room quietly fumed.

“How?!… That’s not fair.” Sheila, The Leopard Lady, complained.

“No. But very ironic.” Ferret-Girl said, silently wishing she could ‘power up’ and show that judge what a real hero/rival team should look like.

“We had this in the bag. How those amateurs get it?”

“If you really want we could jump ‘em outside when they leave this pathetic little party and take back our prize?” Ferret-Girl offered.

Sheila briefly considered it, but when the music started and the party got going again she just swayed with the beat and dragged her partner onto the dance floor.

A slow song started playing and Sheila’s hand rested on the older woman’s waist, pulling them closer together.

“Since when were you this forward?” Ferret-Girl asked, not complaining about the change in attitude in the slightest.

“I’m Sheila, The Leopard Lady, I’m always forward.” She answered learning on Ferret-Girl, “As you said, today is about being who we’re not.”

The other woman kissed the top of Sheila’s head as they danced together as one. They were content in being in each others arms and not caring who saw Sheila, The Leopard Lady, and Ferret-Girl kissing and dancing together.
