Dr. Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Director stood in a calm fury, so great was her current rage that not a single regular officer from her organization, save one, dared approach lest she rip them apart in a most grisly gruesome fashion. She already had the essential reports coming directly to her via the standard issue ear-bud communicator and the more she heard the worse her outrage became. When the brass she answered to found out that not only had there been an assassination attempt on Kim but that it had involved the very person she went out on a limb for and very well could have succeeded she would be hard pressed to answer. She looked to the pile of men and woman who pounced on Kim and almost chuckled, Kim would not be happy but the protection those agents gave her now was more important than the young woman’s feelings. Of all her agents only one would ever face her in a state such as she found herself and to her surprise she was grateful for his lack of fear. “What is your report Agent Du?”
William ‘Will” Du never dropped the ‘at attention’ stiffness in his stance, he was facing the second most dangerous woman he knew and he reveled in the power it let him feel, to stand before a force of nature and know it might destroy you was a rush he enjoyed to the point of addiction. The only real surprise for him had been that the ‘force of nature’ was a person, then he met the other two woman he knew were equally dangerous frightening and all together lust worthy. His opinion of Dr. Director never wavered, she was a power unto herself and he savoured her company as oft as she would allow but after meeting and working with the woman he had failed today, he understood there were greater powers than he knew. He would never understand how someone as good and strong as Kim Possible would take the chances she did with the type of back-up she received from Ron. It almost seemed like she drug him along to make things more difficult for herself and yet they managed to defeat the worste criminals the planet could throw at them. People not even the great organization Global Justice could contain. “We found the weapon used, it’s … well … Dr. Director I haven’t seen anything like it before. I gave orders to the agents to leave the area pristine until we can get the forensics team here to make their evaluation.” He scowled deeply as he thought over what he had been told by the agent who found the … weapon.” He faltered to even give it that title though it clearly was, he couldn’t place it however and for the first time in his career he was at a loss. It still glowed with the unique radiation Shego left behind in her moments of destructive violence however so he was forced to amend his assessment. “Shego is definitely involved Dr. Director.”
Kim found herself utterly pinned under the ‘dog pile’ of G.J. agents that sprang out from nowhere and buried her. As she struggled under the mass, she remembered the sequence that lead to this situation and mentally berated herself before turning her fury towards G.J. and the brunette leading the brutes now piled upon her. “If you people do not get the hell off of me right now I am going to hurt you.” She heard a few of the number audibly gasp at her curse word use but she felt them all tense when she informed them of impending doom. She had only sworn once before and it was also followed by informing a group of people they had a choice, get out of her way or suffer. She knew they still talked about it and hoped this lot would be smart enough to remove themselves. Since they were not moving, she figured it might be time for a reminder. Fools spoke up before she made her decision and, as so often is the case when fools try to act smart, succeeded only in making things worse.
“Listen you brat someone is trying to kill you so shut up and stay still.” The agent wasn’t a new member, he had been there for far longer than Kim had been doing her thing and he had seen a lot of talent come and go. He figured the firecracker beneath the security force was destined to burn out before she got old enough to be a real problem and bet good money on that fact. Graduation meant he lost as she was now eligible for recruiting and to top it off he would have to fork over his paycheck for two months to Agent Du, with the Director as witness. Explaining this fact to the wife was not going to be easy.
“Get. The. Hell. OFF. OF. ME! I’m not going to say it again.”
“Byte me girl, we’re under orders and you’re not the one giving them.”
Some fearful soul from the mass spoke up at this point which Kim counted in their favour. “Shut up Charlie. For the love of god shut up.”
“Piss off Vinney just because the little bitch intimidates you don’t mean she impresses me.” He moved a bit so he could see her face and would eventually remember to regret it. Her fist broke his jaw in three places. The rest of the pile made note of this as, technically, she should not have been able to free that arm at all.
In the next few moments the number of well trained, highly skilled and combat hardened G.J. agents pinning her to the ground was reduced by half, either from her actions or from the wisdom to run. When she got to the last two agents stupid or crazy enough to persist she decided to be lenient and merely knocked them out. She would have preferred not to have done anything but they forced her hand and she broke a few of theirs. She saw a similar pile of armored agents to her left and figured they were pinning Ron with much the same success they had in holding her. Of course, he used different methods to achieve the same ends, he was still hampered by the fact that, so far, he had avoided seriously injuring someone. As she turned to find Dr. Director, she heard a painful sounding snap followed by a yelp and a ‘Sorry dude but I warned you not to say anything about her.’ She chuckled as Ron tried to apologize before he went back to forcibly removing them from on top of him. When she spied the commando leader she marched straight over and called for her just when she got close. She knew Dr. Director would be on her guard after the attack but it didn’t matter she threw the punch she expected to be deflected the kick she expected to be blocked and the backhand she knew would connect. Coming from the woman’s blindside she knew the only way to get her hit in was misdirection, she just was not sure if she could manage that with the older more experienced woman.
Betty expected the hostile reaction from Kim but she was not prepared for the speed the girl possessed, she managed to block two of the three strikes but there was no way she would be to block or evade the vicious backhand. Kim stopped at the single blow, which surprised her because she figured Kim would have been far angrier than this. The side of her face that took the shot turned a bright red as she rubbed it gently and waited for Ron to join the group. Saying anything at this point would be a wasted effort. Kim wasn’t completely out of it as she expected but she knew it would be best for Ron to be present for what she was going to say. If the situation were less serious she would have allowed herself a small chuckle as Ron, pants in hand, ran over to stand beside Kim. He started putting them on as he waited to see what Kim would do next and muttered, “Pantsed by secret agents on graduation day … dammit I wanted to streak but … I guess this was probably better.”
Kim snorted at the comment but kept her focus fixed on the older woman with the missing eye. “Before you say a single word I want to ask you two questions Dr. Director. When you decided to camp out here for the ceremony and were planning how to protect me, did it ever occur that if someone were really serious about killing me they might think far enough ahead to plan for something like what you did and switch to a mortar or rocket instead? You know something that can be fired and discarded without concern and is all but guaranteed to kill the target if it happens to be people outside of or even in a tank.” Betty could only gape as she thought that over. Kim was right they hadn’t prepared as fully as they could have. Sure they had plenty of agents and defenses covering the typical affairs for Team Possible but typical for them usually steered towards ‘death rays’ and carnivorous plants that could hunt you down and eat you or at the most absurd … teams of combat trained chimps. Their defenses against directed energy attacks would have no affect on a ballistic projectile as was so vividly displayed. “I see you at least understand that error so moving on to error number two. Considering that you not only knew what Ron and I had planned for today but were the one who specifically said ‘I promise no interference.’ Why is there a small army of agents swarming the grounds? How the hell do you expect Shego to be stupid enough to miss the more obvious ones.” She was willing to ignore the ones she had missed chalking them up to the understandable security issue but the less concealed agents alone would have kept Shego too edgy to approach.
Betty rubbed the side of her face a time or two more as she looked around at her remaining forces, the rest scattered through the woods and hills of the surrounding countryside. She debated only for a moment answering truthfully. “I fully intended to keep her and everyone else away until I had the chance to talk to you after you gave the speech Barkin was going to ask you to give.” She enjoyed seeing the look of shock on Kim’s face just then, “You can’t seriously believe they wouldn’t want to hear a few words from the most noted member of the student body in school history? You’re a celebrity the world over girl, it was all I could manage just to get the press to leave you alone.” Facing the news media in Kim’s stead, she felt, was a sacrifice Kim should thank her for making if nothing else. “As for why I wanted to keep ‘everyone’ away Kim, there have been threats directed towards you for years now, threats that we have kept safely tucked away. Not even your parents have been privy to some of the things we have intercepted on your behalf.” Kim understood the fact that she had single-handedly pissed off just about every dangerous faction on the planet but she had been a child and G.J. could neither stop her nor reprimand her for her more foolish actions. By the time she came to the agencies attention it was too late, Kim was already set and with the addition of Wade Load to Team Possible it would have been truly impossible to take any action to stop them. If not because they would not listen then for the very simple fact that the ‘huddled masses’ now had a hero they would not part with easily.
Ron blinked as the words ‘threats directed towards’ ran across his mind a few times. He knew the regular lot they faced wanted to hurt or kill them both and he was prepared for that but, to find out it was so serious G.J. kept their parents out of the loop, made him nervous about the wisdom of staying outside in light of the assassination attempt. The same attempt that put gruff and gruesome Barkin on the ground in tears, an attempt that was likely intended for Kim or himself. “Not that I am scared or anything but uh you know shouldn’t we like … finish this little chat somewhere less oh I don’t know … open?” He wouldn’t bother to deny it if asked, he was decidedly scared but not for himself. Kim was the real target of the team, if anyone were going to take another crack at stopping them permanently she would always be the first target.
“Not a chance Ron.” Kim shook her head defiantly, “If there were anyone left attempting to kill us they would have already followed through.” She waited for Betty to nod in confirmation, any further action would have followed shortly after the flawed first shot and continued until the sniper was caught or killed. “Now Dr. Director, I must insist on this, Ron and I are now involved in whatever investigation you have running. I won’t interfere with your lab techs so long as I get first run through.” If Betty Director thought she would let the agency sideline her in this she would have to illustrate exactly how wrong the thought was. “Shall we get started?”
“I …” Betty bit off the remark she was about to make, it wouldn’t do to fight the redhead right now, not when she would be trying to recruit her in the next few moments. “Fine Miss Possible. Agent Du, inform the boys to leave the scene alone and await further, then get us to the weapon and nest.” She waited for the dark skinned young man to salute and trot off before she turned the full force of her attention to Kim and Ron. “The nest was already in lock down and waiting for our techs to arrive and start the forensics but there was a discovery made that required no investigation. I have been informed a freshly fired rifle was found near the snipers nest, apparently it has a green glow infused into the wooden stock.” She could see the confusion in their faces and she knew Kim and Ron didn’t recognize the term ‘rifle’ and wouldn’t buy that Shego would shoot at them any more than she did herself, it just wasn’t the green woman’s style, but she was forced to work under the assumption Shego pulled the trigger until other evidence presented itself. “I would like to point out that this only serves to the correct assessment of the situation I explained to you when you contacted me Kim.”
Kim nodded in admittance of that truth, now that they no longer had the safety net of being merely irritating children things were most likely going to get far worse. “I do understand that, Dr. Director but if you expect me to believe that Shego would try to kill me like this you’re wasting your time. If she wanted me dead, she would kill me with her bare hands. She has tried on occasion, after all.” After their first few encounters ended in defeat Shego had actually tried to kill her a couple of times but seeing Kim survive each instance broke her resolve in short order. Kim still held a bit of anger over those days but no resentment, she understood Shego was just trying to do her job professionally. She could tell because there was no malice in Shego’s emerald eyes. Anger and a touch of hatred at times yes but malice no. After the ‘Little Diablo’ affair, Kim was grateful that Shego didn’t hold her lapse in character against her. “I want the truth and if I do not get it from you then I suggest you not bother me again.”
Pulling her uniform straight for sake of appearance Dr. Director fumed internally, she was furious that things were going as they were. Kim was a valuable asset and officially her responsibility but as she was not officially ‘in’ the agency, her questions could only be answered in part. “The truth is, Ms. Possible that someone fired a high powered rifle, a contraband weapon, in the general direction of your schools graduation assembly. Someone was badly hurt by the shot and we are lucky that is all to come of it. Someone could have been killed, likely you.” A short nod indicated they should follow her as she began to head to the jeep Will was pulling around the stage. “The truth is the weapon has been recovered and it bears trace that Shego came into direct contact with it while using her power, what affect this might have on a projectile is unknown but as with most of Team Go the full extent of her powers are unknown.” Again she saw the looks of confusion, she wanted to explain it to them but that was not her place. Ushering Kim and Ron into the rear of the jeep she took the front passenger seat before continuing her discourse. “Over the course of the last four years we have been observing you closely, as you are well aware, and have intercepted a great deal of malicious intent aimed at you and yours.” She would prefer to let them stew over that a bit longer but they were closing in on the snipers position. Will could drive when pressed and in light of recent, he felt the need to get them to the scene asap. “I ordered the number of agents here today long in advance of the deal you asked me to consider because for the last year there have been credible threats made and actions taken against you from factions and organizations you have never encountered. Your activities have hurt the bank accounts of some of the worste monsters this planet has to offer and hurting their bank is worse than hurting their family.” At her nod, Will drove off to the service road leading to the wooded park neighboring the school.
Kim nodded acknowledging the truth of that last bit, she admitted freely she and Ron were little more than a freelance vigilantes and she knew that after stepping on enough toes eventually someone would want to step back. “Ok I can get the extra security in light of that but why didn’t you tell us about this?” She didn’t like being in the dark about that kind of thing because, as the jerk with the now broken jaw attested, there were those within Global Justice who counted themselves among her list of enemies. She knew Betty Director well enough to feel confident the woman would not deliberately position someone who could hurt them that, however, did not mean a lurker could not slip by.
“Frankly Kim you didn’t need to know.” Betty knew this would piss Kim off but it could not be avoided. “Before you came to me with the deal regarding Shego I would have told you. Before she became involved, you would have been able to handle knowing how many agents had been assigned and not questioned it. After she was introduced into the equation, things changed. I got you the time you want, which I will cover momentarily. However I must warn you if she is involved with this then my hands are tied and she will be brought in, by any means necessary.” She paused and thought over the why’s of her inability to explain as Will pushed the jeep up over the curb and onto the trail through the thicket with a jostling bounce. Shego was more of an enigma than even her brothers who also resisted the purge to varying degrees. She was bound by her oath to deal with this very kind of situation, she would have a word with Kim’s parents. Perhaps it was time Kim and Ron were brought up to speed. “Now assuming she is innocent and as long as you intend to follow through on your agreement then once we get to the bottom of this you get your time with her.” Will parked the jeep at the edge of the rough trail he followed and escorted the group to the cleft in the brush where the shot had originated.
Agents had already cordoned off the area the sniper had stood, as they were lead past Kim looked over the marked area and noted the footprints and other signs indicating who was there. She filed away the fact that she saw Shego’s boot prints and Drakken’s in several places, she would want a much closer look after they examined the weapon. Will lead them directly to the site the weapon landed and Kim had to stifle a laugh, it was one of the silliest looking devices she had seen, and that was saying something where Drakken was involved. The stock was glowing just as they had heard, but it was stuck nose first into the ground and slightly bent. Looking to Dr. Director Kim waited only long enough to get the go-ahead nod before she grabbed a pair of latex gloves from a nearby tech then proceeded to examine the gun. Right off she could tell it was most likely the weapon they were after, green glow aside it reeked of a smell she couldn’t place. The smell made her leery, in all of her encounters she was used to odd aromas but this was new. The indents from the glowing hand of Shego fit her profile, if she had been holding the rifle the stock and lit her hands at least some of the plasma would be left behind to smolder. It was one of the more curious artifacts of Shego’s power. Satisfied with what she could tell by visual examination alone Kim pulled out her Kimmunicator and called her digital ally Wade Load.
Looking the area over she waited for him to respond to the summons and smiled brightly as the familiar beep tones sounded his acknowledgement. ‘Hey Kim what’s up?’ Kim spared the display a glance, “Hey Wade I need you to give me a most comprehensive scan you can of the area I’m about to pan for you to see ok?” She had no doubt he could handle the request but she wanted to be specific. Turning the Kimmunicator so its camera faced the direction she wanted she panned over the general area making sure he would see the entire zone marked off. “I’m giving you some numbers I want you to keep handy and apply to what you turn up,” She tapped the thumb-pad a few times before continuing. “I’m sure you already know but someone took a shot at me today and I want you to give me everything you can about this. When you have this area scanned I’ll get the … rifle.” She wondered why she couldn’t place the weapon, it was clearly old, rust dotted several places along the length of the metal parts. Something like that should be common knowledge if it or any like it had ever been used before yet it was completely new to her.
It only took a few minutes for him to get the scans he needed but Wade decided to be his normal thorough self and collected the information G.J. obtained before Kim got there. Enjoying the thrill of getting into systems as well guarded as those G.J. used was the driving force behind most hackers but it wasn’t even a challenge for him anymore. It only took him another few moments to have every detail he could lay hands on in the investigation. Besides, these days he got his rush from the interaction he had with Kim Ron and Rufus. Already, he was beginning to get an idea of how things actually went and how things appeared but until he could do a complete compile of all relevant datas he would reserve his opinion. This was too serious a situation to go off half-cocked and the sims he needed to run to verify the trajectory firing point and whatever else could be gleaned needed to be hand coded since not all of the data was digital. “Ok Kim I got the full scan, give me some time to crunch through it and I’ll get back with you ok?” He didn’t need to wait for the nod she gave but he did anyway, she would do no less after all.
Kim hid her surprise well as she deactivated the com device, Wade normally had things like this worked out before she could ask for his help, that he required time to assimilate and sort everything was a shock. She could tell from the observable clues of the scene it was more than a clear cut assassination attempt but she would hold her judgment until she got word from Wade on the scans. “Ron would you go back and let everyone know we’re ok and see how things are going down there? I want to look around here for a bit, I’ll catch up.” She waited for him to nod and trot off before she turned to Betty. “I’m going to search around for a bit then get back to the school. I am not going to debate or argue over it. You can send Du with me or trust me to myself now that I am aware of the threat. Either way I am going now.” When the older woman shrugged Kim took off following a hunch. There were three obvious trails leading away from the area and, as she expected of someone in Shego’s league, not a trace of which she took. She asked herself, if she were Shego and in a ferocious hurry to escape which way would she go.
A few minutes later she stopped along the trail she chose. The trees to either side provided plenty of coverage from aerial observation the trail was clean of general debris and offered dozens of places to step off trail into the woods without leaving a trace. It was the general ‘well kept’ state of the trail that convinced her, if Shego was really in a hurry she would go with the quickest route that put the most distance between her and the scene before she turned into the expanse of trees rimming the mountain. Without more to go on however she was left at a loss, Shego was a master thief and as such could leave footprints or not as she desired. Kim smiled to herself as she turned to head back, she confirmed to herself Shego was a thief not an assassin, in all the years they fought Shego had only ever tried to kill her when Kim could see it coming. She chuckled to herself as she realized how someone outside her head might laugh at the notion she was concerned for someone who actually had tried to kill her more than once. Shego may well have killed many people but Kim couldn’t bring herself to believe it. If the super powered woman were a killer she would have already struck down Ron and Kim and been done with it. Nope, Kim refused to believe Shego a killer for hire, she just hoped she could find proof to that fact before G.J. took action in response to this afternoon and the fact that Shego was involved in more than a few ways.
Ron bounded down the hillside opting to get away from all the G.J. agents instead of seeking transport the short distance back to the school from one. He was grateful Kim asked him to head back, he needed the chance to get away from the agents and Dr. Director. Dr. Director he could understand, she was doing her job and didn’t have time to mince words but the other agents were a different matter. The entire time Kim and Dr. Director talked over the incident he could hear them muttering, everyone apparently had already written this off as Shego’s doing and were content to leave it at that. The number of times Shego and Drakken embarrassed or humiliated G.J. only compared to the number of times he and Kim were called in to clean up the mess. He, like Kim, accepted that there would be a considerable amount of hostility towards them he even admitted they had a right to be hostile towards Shego but to the best of his knowledge no agent of G.J. had ever been seriously hurt by the green thief, well, nothing more serious than a broken bone and bruised ego. Smirking as he cleared the last of the brush on the edge of the woods he gripped his shoulder and rolled his arm around, he received one of those broken bones and that moment changed his opinion of the woman entirely.
Shaking himself from those thoughts Ron focused on the crowd gathered at the front of the stage. The paramedics were long gone with Mr. Barkin and the G.J. agents Dr. Director left behind to over see them were being overwhelmed. He couldn’t see his parents but he could clearly see Kim’s mother which meant his parents would be nearby. Once he got within earshot, he called for Kim’s mom and soon had everyone he needed to talk to standing around him. He gave them a quick assessment of the situation leaving out only the details of Shego’s potential involvement, he wouldn’t tell his parents about Shego until there was something to tell them. They were open minded enough to accept if not entirely understand, his only concern was Kim’s father. He hoped Kim would be able to handle Mr. Possible because he enjoyed life on the planet and had no desire to be sent off as part of some science package on a deep space mission. At least he had Kim and Mrs. Possible was on his side though he still was not sure how he managed that.
After fielding a few questions from the students he knew would pester him for more information Ron managed to slip away with his parents and Kim’s family, together they made their way to their respective vehicles and plan for the rest of the night, he was glad they didn’t bother to ask his opinion in this matter. They would all go to the Possibles house, that was a given. Anytime anything serious happened to either himself or Kim the families would meet at Kim’s to make arrangements for what they would do next. After another twenty minutes of waiting Ron perked up, he could smell Kim’s perfume and knew she must be close. She was in point of fact not more than a few yards away talking with her mother her father and Dr. Director. He wasn’t sure exactly who to feel sorry for since they all looked ready to throw down and fight right then. ‘Oh well, time to do my job.’ He thought to himself as he prepared to rescue Kim once again. ‘Old tricks are the best I think.’
He was about half way towards the small yet vocal group when he gave the quiet whistle he worked out with Rufus for the times he needed to be covert. In this case, the whistle was followed by a few short clicks in Roache letting Rufus know he would need to find a safer pocket shortly. Just as he got close enough to speak normally to the group he shouted, “Hey KP, so did you find anything?” He just managed to get that sentence out before Rufus undid the tie. Once again, he was pantsed for the world to see and mock. He didn’t mind in the least because he saw the look in her eyes and the weary but grateful smile on her face. There was only one other woman he could compare those eyes to and he hoped that after today he might still get the chance for the side by side comparison that almost cost him Kim. As she shared a good natured and much needed laugh with her parents over his antics he couldn’t help but consider himself blessed to have finally gotten the courage to say something to her. Had she left him over the off-handed remark he would count his time with her as the best of his life but even then he knew there was more he needed, he just hadn’t placed it until recently.
As he finished retying his pants Kim gave him a saucy wink that her mother mock-scowled over before pushing her towards the young blonde. Rufus dashed across the short grass and raced up Kim’s battered dress robes, Ron wondered why Kim hadn’t taken the robes off after the agent pile mess. His were somewhere on the trampled turf, quite possibly looking better than his Mad Dog costume after the last game of their High School lives. That had been one hell of a good party, of course at the time he wouldn’t see it that way. Wrapping his arm around Kim, he offered her a soft smile before they headed to the Possibles larger car. As was usual for their respective families his parents would follow and collect him from Kim’s house after they had the chance to explain the sitch, well as best they could under the circumstances. Kim snaked her arm around his waist and for a moment, he thought she was going to yank the other quick release for his uniform. When all she did was hook her finger through a belt loop he relaxed, as long as Kim’s dad could see them this close he wanted his pants securely in place.
Following Kim’s lead Ron remained silent, he didn’t look it from the outside but he was just as conflicted and outright scared as he knew Kim was. He could tell Kim was trying to work out exactly what happened just from the focused expression she wore, he could read her like a book most of the time. After he opened the car door and let Kim slip in he looked over to see the Possibles and his parents just turning to leave Dr. Director. Before the twins got the chance to cause trouble he dropped in and slid closer to Kim who leaned against him comfortably, she tapped him on the thigh and got his attention then pointed to her eyes and her hand. He didn’t need the extra instruction but he ignored the trivial details, she made the suggestion they learn a non verbal language for times when they needed to talk but not be heard. Of the list she presented he settled for ASL and surprised her by learning it faster than she did. With a nod he waited and watched the fluid lines of her fingers weave out a single short sentence. ‘Shego didn’t do it, its going to be up to us to prove it.’ He nodded before signing his response. ‘No she didn’t, where you lead I’ll follow KP.’ He gave her another soft smile and she snuggled closer.
Enjoying the warmth of Kim so close Ron stared out the window as the twins and the Dr’s Possible climbed into the SUV. His parents only kept them a moment longer to inform him that he could stay the night at the Possibles and that they were going straight home. He could tell his father was badly shaken but he knew his mother would calm him down. Once the final partings were out of the way they were off and Ron cast his gaze out the window just over Kim’s head. He agreed completely with Kim, Shego didn’t do this. He felt a gentle nudge and looked to the source, Kim was smiling and made a quick sign before pointing to his shoulder. He followed and noticed he was rubbing his arm again so he nodded, she asked if he was thinking about Shego. Ever since she broke then helped set his arm things had been different.
Ron groped around the darkened room blindly, Kim was off chasing Drakken, Rufus was somewhere causing mayhem and he had been saddled with fighting Shego. Miles upon miles of bad road, those were the exact words he used when Kim announced the plan, thinking about it in the dark now though his imagination filled in the blanks Kim left in her brief description of what Drakken built. Shortly after the Little Diablo affair, Kim made a major shift in strategy. She no longer considered Shego to be the real threat. He agreed which surprised him, they both decided that should Drakken come up with something that rated above his norm she would deal with him and he would distract Shego for as long as he could. It was a major improvement from their previous arrangement in his opinion and was put into practice with increasing regularity. It was mid winter of last year when he noticed the difference in how Kim reacted to Shego when they fought, the pained looks Shego gave every time Kim used that incident to rattle Shego. Something moved to his right and startled him out of his wandering thoughts, he had to keep his head in the game or he would likely lose it.
Shego smirked in the inky blackness, the sidekick was alone which meant Kimmie was nearby. Fine, she thought, I’ll deal with the dweeb then go find my princess. Dancing gracefully around the near blind young man she teased him in preparation for capture. She wouldn’t waste her good moves on this goofball. She also wouldn’t admit that she was disappointed. Kim wasn’t paying her the attention she wanted anymore and she knew why. Kim went to great lengths to make sure she knew. “So Stoppable did Kimmie get tired of dancing with me?” She asked as she drew back to make her first strike. She side skipped to the left and darted forward expecting to catch the young blonde off guard, instead he surprised her. With a shrill shriek he spun and struck her inner forearm deflecting the punch she threw while adding one of his own which connected solidly with her ribs. Shego dropped back into the full shadows to catch her breath, she never expected the scrawny boy to be that damned strong or quick. “Well shit it looks like I might get to have some fun after all. I bet you break easier than Princess.”
Ron chuckled and closed his eyes again, he learned during his short trip to Japan some degree of mastery over the mystic forces empowering him he just put them to different uses than was expected. When it came to a fight he was mostly business but as he focused on sensing Shego he could feel something more than the bitter angry woman she showed the world. He wasn’t surprised by this discovery, in fact he would be more surprised if he found her more like Drakken. Drakken held a blackness that would consume all and it was slowly beginning to wear on Shego. “C’mon Shego don’t you think it’s time you got away from all this? I mean seriously you got demoted to minor threat, something the ‘sidekick’ gets to mop up.” He dodged a swift series of strikes and kicks from her noting that she had yet to fire up the green glow she usually used when facing Kim. With an almost strangled howl he leapt at the presence he felt, unable to see in the darkness he let his sense guide him and was rewarded by latching hold of Shego pinning her arms to her side. Quickly wrapping his legs around her he smirked as she bellowed and screamed in outrage. She still hadn’t light her hands on fire.
After struggling to free herself from the buffoon for longer than she would ever admit publicly Shego looked him directly in the face, it wasn’t hard since his wild leap and grab caught her as she was making a move towards him. He ended up in a full frontal full body hug that was humiliating and exciting in the same breath. Only Kim had ever held her at bay this long. It was time for dirty tactics, “Usually when guys get me in this position they have bought me at least a dozen drinks.” He chuckled, how infuriating. “If Kim comes in will you invite her to join or make her sit and watch?” She knew she was getting his attention rather quickly and found herself receiving an unexpected surprise. His reaction to her innuendo was getting a rise out of her as well. She was sure that just as she could feel him stiffen between them he could feel her points come into play. Deciding to run with it Shego twisted slightly rubbing her ample bosom across his chest she leaned forward as if to kiss him and finally got the reaction she wanted, at least it was what she thought she wanted. He let go and tried to back away, acting on instinct and the urge to continue fighting she threw a spinning heel expecting him to dodge as he had before but she knew he would not as soon as she made the committing spin. Even if she tried to check the kick, he would take most of it. Her heel hit mid bicep and was punctuated with a dull wet snap. He spun away from the force of her kick and fell in a heap. Shego panicked and rushed over to make sure the boy would be ok. She didn’t really want to hurt Ron or Kim, she never had, she was just doing her job.
