Kim followed Shego closely as they entered the house for Kim’s second visit, more aware and recovered she noticed all kinds of things she had missed in her brief first viewing. Shego carried the green and black theme across to almost everything she owned, sometimes mixing Oriental and Grecian, sometimes mixing merely ‘old’ with spectacularly ancient. One wall was fully replaced by what appeared to be a wall mural from some Aztec temple, the feathered serpent clearly evident even under the centuries old green and grey mosses and lichens. A closer look showed the wall to be wet and a small splashing could be heard, the wall looked like it had a small river flowing over its surface. “Wow, this is beautiful Shego.”
Shego snorted and held back the smart-ass remark she wanted to give Kim in return, not that she didn’t appreciate the compliment but at that moment there was something far more urgent to get settled. “Don’t get too comfy Possible and dig out your Kimmunicator. Might as well dial up nerdlinger as well, you're going to want to speak to him for a minute.” She pulled Kim away from the backpack and duffels she insisted Kim bring in with them. With a small wand like device, she began her examination of the bags much to Kim’s dismay. When it started beeping and flashing Kim’s attitude changed dramatically.
Shego fished out the tracking bug she had seen the twins deposit and held it out for Kim to examine. “There’s at least five more of those in here and two are of a much cruder design.” The scanner she was using had been specially made at her request. In her part of the trade she had been betrayed once too often to trust anyone anymore and hit Hench up for the best bug detector he had, it only took four punches to get him to part with it after modifying it for her. “They don’t want to lose you and that’s understandable but we can’t have them cheating now can we?”
Kim looked down to the woman who was riffling through her clothes, under ordinary circumstances she would be pissed if even her own mother were doing that but with proof of the trackers in her hand she was feeling something else. “How did you know Shego?”
“You’re a sucker for ‘family’ Kim, one of the twins distracted the other dropped. Pretty clean set up if I do say so myself.” She talked as she examined digging out every remaining bug and a few of Kims panties just to see the girl go red-faced. “You’ll have to tell me where you got these … Peaches.” She was holding up a particularly frilly pair Kim loved to wear. True to form, Kim went nova red and quickly snatched her underwear from Shego’s hand. “Oooh touched a soft spot did I?” Now it was her turn to blush.
The bug in her palm was the only thing keeping her from bolting for the door right then and there. Kim knew her brothers would pull something like this but there were only two people who had access to some of the things that were bugged. Did they not trust her or was it just the way an over protective brain surgeon and an over protective rocket scientist expressed their concern. When Shego snatched the tracking device from her open hand, she snapped back to reality, “What are you doing with those?” Shego had placed all the devices into what looked like a large copper bowl before returning to Kims side.
Shego didn’t say a word she just nodded to the Kimmunicator in her other hand. Kim promptly nodded and hit the intercom key, which sent the open channel command to Wade’s satellite link. In a flash, he was there. ‘Hey Kim what’s up?’ he had started to say when Shego snatched the com device and turned it so its internal camera could see her and she could see Wade on the display. She showed him the scanner in detail. “You know what this is right?” When he nodded she continued, “So do you want to tell her or do I?” Kim could hear Wade swallow loudly even from a few feet away.
The scowl on her face now was one of a building rage and disgust, if Shego knew something that Wade knew and it involved her and that detector of hers it couldn’t be a good thing. “Tell me what Wade?” She didn’t bother taking the Kimmunicator back, she wasn’t sure if she would want to touch it again if her suspicions proved true. She looked at Shego who motioned her over, further away from the bowl with the active bugs.
“This wand has an extremely high sensitivity Kim, it can scan almost the entire r.f. spectrum, I think it even checks infra and ultra sonics as well some of the newer optical tracers. Right now it’s identifying seven tracers, six of which are over there three meters away.” Shego hated herself for what she was doing considering the display of affection Kim’s family had put on earlier. She showed Kim the indicator displaying the tracers and the distance gauge. She clearly remembered the hard look on Kim’s face from the last time she had been dealt such a betrayal. The indicator showed the seventh tracer as right on top of the scanner or within twenty centimeters; Kim herself was the only thing in that range. “I’m sorry Kim but you needed to know. I would have told you sooner and I can only hope you will forgive me for not doing so after you hear me out.”
That tidbit took some time for Kim to parse, Shego had known she was being tracked and had not used it to her advantage? She wasn’t sure who to be madder with, her family for going to such extremes of Shego for letting the thing go on for however long the tracker had been on her that Shego knew of. She turned her back to the pale green woman so she wouldn’t see the tears on her face, she couldn’t stop her voice from cracking though, “Wade … ‘sniff’ I uh, tell me the truth Wade, now please.”
Wade looked at the image on the monitor linked directly to the Kimmunicator and felt a rush of anger at a long list of people starting with himself. “Kim I’m not going to say I’m sorry, we have used the bug to track Ron before and you didn’t seem to upset about that invasion of privacy.” He was cut off by a rather enraged Shego, “What?” was all he could think to say.
Shego felt the plasma boil off the skin on her clenched fist as she wrestled to control herself, he was the last person to make mention of privacy especially to Kim. He was a former member of ‘the cams’ former as in best of the bunch until Shego found him out. She didn’t mind the pictures he had of her, heck she actually enjoyed some aspects of it, Kim was a different story. “If the cams ever find out I will know and you will regret drawing another breath past that day, clear?” She accepted his fearful nod and continued, “Speaking of the cams you have secured the facility correct? They will not be able to access it in any fashion. Correct?”
Wade did the fastest double check of his life then did so again before returning to the link display, “Yes Shego the cams will not be finding you. I guarantee it.” Even if she was clear across the valley he feared the wrath of that woman above all else save one. The cams were well connected, a truly global network that accessed whatever they wanted whenever they wanted and they bowed to no one prior to Shego discovering them, then for the first time in their collective history the cams began self censoring. There were a few pictures of Kim floating around but as each was turned up and traced to its point of origin, said origin point was struck down. Whoever was taking out those nodes made sure the entire node, usually a small office building with several mainframes running, was utterly destroyed. Only a small part of one building had survived in point of fact.
“Good now again do you want me to or will you be the adult male for a change and fess up.” She wasn’t terribly furious with him, clearly not as mad as Kim. Shego knew the net, she had to have far more intimate dealings with netizens in the course of her career and knowing the shadows that lurked there was a big part of her job. ‘Give the Kimmunicator to Kim please Shego.’ She actually smiled at him for a change, “You’re a good one Wade here’s Kimmie.” She touched Kim on the shoulder and wasn’t surprised when the red head jerked away as if burned. “C’mon Pe … Princess you need to deal with this now or you won’t be able to handle what comes next.” She had meant the extension of their ‘vacation’ but something in the back of her mind was screaming for more.
Taking the digital com unit from Shego in an angry huff Kim stormed around in a couple of circles before she held the screen up so she could look at Wade’s image. “Who put you up to it Wade?” She knew already but she had to hear it for herself before she jumped to any conclusions. Shego was right she needed to deal with this now. “I’m not going to tell you I am not mad at you because I am sooo past ferociously mad at this point but I suspect you were just a pawn in this game, correct?”
Wade nodded and absently sipped at the ever present soda in his hand, it was all his incredible brain could come up with to keep him from needing a change of underwear. Shego was scary but when Kim got this angry small towns could disappear, it happened twice that he knew of personally. “I did the designing on consignment and under threat of brain tweaking Kim, she threatened to turn my brain into limburger, I think, that woman can really make intimidation work when she needs to.”
Kim lowered her eyebrows, every word serving to confirm her growing suspicions, “Spit it out Wade. NOW!” Her patience for these games had run out.
Wade nearly swallowed his tongue and spent a minute coughing it back up before he responded. “You mom wanted some way to find you no matter what, even if it meant just finding your body.” He was about to terminate the link when Shego’s face appeared on the monitor. ‘Oh shit’
Shego could have gone any number of routes with her next question but she differed to the more soft-spoken path, for a change. “Wade tell me you know where it was put and you’ll be allowed to keep your knees, unless Kim wants them for trophies, can’t stop her there y’know.” Well it was soft-spoken in Shego terminology.
Kim heard him clearly from behind, when Shego took the Kimmunicator she turned away from her again, partly to keep the woman from seeing her so broken up and partly to keep from smashing the thing in Shegos hands. ‘There should be a small brown dot behind her right ear on her neck.’ Instinctively she put a hand to the mole she had discovered one afternoon shortly after she began the hero business. At the time she thought nothing of it, it was mostly hidden and she had two others elsewhere but now the thing felt alien, so much so her skin actually crawled at its own touch, then Shego was there standing so close she was nearly touching and Kim felt a warmth she hadn’t expected.
“Is it a type two or type six Wade,” She had to know, she had been tagged with tracers like it before and she needed to know if this one would be safe to remove the way she preferred. Kim might not like that method but it guaranteed the device was destroyed. ‘Six Shego.’ Wade disconnected the link after whispering that bit, it was one Shego could deal with safely enough but it would hurt no matter how it was to be removed. “Well Peaches this is where you make yet another painful decision. I wish I didn’t have to throw this in your face but with you I want to come clean … on everything.”
Kim stiffened slightly as Shego put a hand to her shoulder near the spot with the tracker. She was beyond outraged, yeah she could understand her mother’s desire and as bad an idea as it was in her line of work she would have even agreed, had she been asked. She wasn’t sure what Shegos motives were but one thing was clear, Shego had known and not taken advantage of the knowledge. “Whatever it takes Shego, just get rid of the damned thing. Please.” She felt the tears running down her face as Shegos hand traced a soft line to the implant. It sent shivers of an entirely different nature down her spine but her over riding concern put a damper on them.
Shego held a talon to her rivals throat, she would never have a better chance to put an end to things than right now, the old Shego, the Shego pre-Kim would have only hesitated for a moment. She might not have killed but the opponent would not have been walking away or at all for that matter. “This is going to hurt like hell Peaches, please forgive me.” With that she jabbed her finger into Kims neck, the gloves talons remained sharper than the best surgical scalpel but there were only a few ways to make such a wound pain free and Shego wasn’t about to go there. When she felt the talon contact the artificial material she sent a short burst of her plasma along the length of her finger to the tip of the talon. As long as she lived, Shego swore she never wanted to hear Kim scream like that again.
Nearly senseless Kim sagged and all but collapsed into Shego’s arms, Shego hadn’t lied it did hurt every bit as bad as she had said it would but that pain was fleeting, she could only hope the pain she felt regarding her family, her mother specifically would eventually go away. She would have spent a much longer time sitting there crying if it had not been for the voice coming from her keychain.
Sadie had been listening in but was powerless to do anything, she was under strict orders to do nothing unless commanded to, Mr. Dr. Possible had made that command one of her primary drivers. Just because she could not take physical action didn’t mean she couldn’t take some form of action even if it was merely verbal. ‘Kim are you alright? Call me! Command me to help!’ In spite of being a machine she worried greatly for the few humans she could actually tolerate and Kim was one of a very select few. She could hear Kim over the keychain fob but it would take a lot of power to clean up the signal and she was saving that in case she was called and needed to vaporize a few walls to get in.
Shego looked around wondering when the police were going to bust the door down; the near panicked expression on her face cheered Kim up immensely. Standing and brushing herself off a bit out of embarrassment Kim pulled the fob from her pocket and examined it. Along with the security and locking buttons there was a pinhole microphone/speaker built in. “Sadie you haven’t been voice locked right?” When she received an affirmative answer, she decided it was time for her to really have the privacy she wanted and it would start with her car. “Sadie first wipe all programming prior to this date that wont affect your performance or persona. If you think it might be something that can be used to spy on or track me disable delete or otherwise remove, Understood?” The car made another affirmative noise and chimed like a microwave oven when the timer ran out. “Ok now for the voice ident. You have my voice key attach your security to it and from this point forward you will only accept orders from me …” She looked at the pale woman sitting cross-legged on the floor then added, “You will take a voice key from Shego. One that I do not know and you will answer to her if I am unavailable or the situation merits, you can use your own discretion there. Once that is set, Sadie, I want you go offline until either Shego or I return.” She heard Sadie start to protest but cut the A.I. off. “We will have time to catch up Sadie, I’m sorry for having to cut this so short but until Shego and I can go over every system you have I can’t be sure you aren’t putting out a tracing signal.” Sadie acknowledged this as a valid point but was adamant she was ‘bug free’ and that she would know if she were secretly transmitting anything. “Good night Sadie.” Kim tapped the lock button on the fob and dropped it in the bowl with the six surviving tracers.
Mrs. Possible stared in horror as she watched the tracer displayed on her computer flare for a moment then disappear, the other six were still in Shegos house but the important one was no longer being displayed. ‘Shego,’ she thought, ‘Shego must have found it, she would be one of the few who could.’ Type sixes were labeled undetectable for a reason. It took military grade equipment to detect even the base signal a type six transmitted. She did not like being out maneuvered but she conceded this battle. Kim wasn’t going to be very happy when she returned, if she returned.
She wasn’t sure how long she stood there staring into the bowl, its contents were firing off all kinds of mixed signals none of which had anything to do with their intended purpose. She could have been there for days for all she knew until she felt that gentle yet firm hand on her shoulder, she didn’t shy away or even flinch this time, the warmth it offered brought a sense of security.
Turning to face the person attached to the hand Kim smiled shyly, Shego was never easy to approach let alone stand so close to. “So how long have you known and why didn’t you take advantage of it?” She had to hear this now; with all the revelations in the last few moments, she felt the need to find the whole truth of the matter.
Shego was the one to turn away this time, “I’ve only know for the last few years, since the Zorpax incident. Stoppable clued me in to the frequency you use for the Kimmunicator, right before you demolished his plans I might add.” She turned back with a predatory gleam in her eye and a crooked smile on her face. “And I have been making use of it, just not in the way you or anyone else would expect of me.” Taking Kim’s uninjured hand, she tried to lead the way to her bedroom but Kim didn’t budge. “Ok yeah now you’re just being stubborn Kim, I have some basic medical supplies in my room and it’s more comfortable to sit in there than stand out here.”
Unsure of exactly how she really felt just then, Kim let the woman lead her off to the far side of the house and into her sanctuary. Shego’s bedroom was no less lavish no more spartan than the rest of the house as Kim had seen it so far. Vibrant greens and deep blacks coloured everything and the few shelves to be seen were only slightly decorated ‘Shego must have a thing for dragons.’ Then she spied two things that clashed almost violently with the rest of the motif. In one corner of the room was a large apparently well-used painters easel complete with canvas, a clothe draped delicately over it, the other corner held a nauseatingly pink bass guitar and equally bright pink amp. “I never pictured you for this side of the arts Shego, no offense.”
Shego chuckled a bit and directed Kim away from the canvas and the mystery it presented her curiosity. “I’ve played the guitar most of my life, needed a hobby when I wasn’t out saving the world, later it helped dealing with Drakken, its all composite so hitting him over the head with it just meant a few hours cleaning the blood off.” Kim cocked an eyebrow at that but did not say anything. “I only recently took up painting, used to just sketch and doodle, but recently I’ve had the inspiration to take things a bit further, so well yeah … there ya go.” She indicated where she wanted Kim to sit and waited for her to get comfortable on the edge of the large futon. Once Kim was ready Shego knelt in front of her looking at the cast on her arm and the small line of blood tracing an arc down the red heads neck.
Kim looked around quickly wondering what Shego was up to this time and noticed there were only a few small bandages near her, “Ok Shego spill.” While the bandages looked like they would do the job covering the small wound on her neck they hardly qualified as ‘basic medical supplies’.
Shego grinned impishly, Kim was every bit the observant action hero she had grown to respect and even possibly love. “For me those count as ‘basic supplies’ Peaches, I heal much faster than anyone on record.” She promptly pulled the collar of her shirt down and across her ample chest to display the barest traces of what had once been a rather gruesome scar. “Took three days to recover from an exploding bullet, took it saving Hego.” She let the collar go and reached a hand out palm up, I have another trick only my brothers have ever seen me use, mostly because I used it to patch them back together. Mego had a fractured wrist after the last Aviarius fiasco so after you and the sidekick left, I snuck back in and healed it in thirty minutes. I don’t know how well it will work on you, haven’t used it on anyone outside the family, much, didn’t want to be more of a freak than I had to be publicly.” She could not entirely keep the bitterness out of her voice, her time as a ‘super hero’ had not been much better than her time as a villain, in fact since Kim came onto the scene her time as a hero paled in comparison.
Kim looked down into the jade green eyes that seemed a darker reflection of her own, her smile was timid but her actions were not, without a hesitation she leaned forward and held her hair back so Shego could get to the small painful wound in her beck. “I trust you Shego.” The smile she was rewarded with made everything else seem to vanish, until a large feline decided she had had enough ‘quiet time’ and came loping into the room bound and determined to pin one of her two favorite humans.
Shego and Kim broke into fits of laughter as the large cat leapt atop the futon and started playing for all the world like a spring kitten with Kims red mane. Once they had settled the brute down and shooed it from the room Shego held her hand against Kims neck where the wound was, she locked eyes with Kim hoping to express the great concern she felt towards the woman who used to be her greatest rival. “This … shouldn’t hurt, but I can’t make any promises Peaches.” Kim nodded and bit nervously on her lip, if she had been expecting some miraculous event she was disappointed. The skin and wound under Shegos palm simply warmed up slightly, the pain from the wound vanished almost instantly. Feeling somewhat proud of herself as she examined the spot that used to be a wound from one of her own talons she asked, “Shall we try something bigger next?”
Kim tore her gaze from Shego and looked to the cast weighing her arm down. She had grown used to its awk-weird feeling but it was cumbersome and dangerous if she had to react fast. Without hesitation, she offered the woman before her the wounded limb. “I’m ok with that. I’ll be glad to be rid of this stupid thing.” The last cast she had worn was on her leg, also Shegos doing, but it too had been an accident. “If I never need another of these I won’t complain in the least.”
Shego tried to refrain from snorting rudely at the remark and managed to make it sound something like a sneeze. “I’m no doctor Kim so I don’t know how much this will or won’t help but if it starts hurting at all I want you to let me know.” She waited until Kim nodded affirmatively then charged her hand up once more. She had never been able to figure it out completely, when she focused on healing herself after a particularly nasty battle as a Team Go member she discovered that with a bit of effort she could project it to someone and help heal them or at least get them stable enough for a proper medical team to take over.
Kim felt the familiar warmth spread through her injured wrist, the bones had mostly healed but they were still painful when she bumped the cast against something hard enough to jar. The “OW!” was unexpected by either woman and Kim had to forced herself not to pull her hand away. Shego looked up to her wide-eyed and full of concern as she tried flexing her wrist as best she could in the cast. Her arm felt pinched into the cast now and she could barely budge her wrist, just as it had been the day they put it on her. “Shego get the cast off me please.” When Shego was slow to react she tapped the woman on the forehead, “Anybody home? C’mon Shego just cut the cast off, I think you did it.”
Kim had in fact been correct but both women decided she would give it another day before putting it to task again. With the cast off her arm she felt awk-weird once more, her arm was used to the extra weight it carried and yet Kim could see no visible different from before, the muscles in her forearm should have atrophied some over the last month. After she finished inspecting her arm she looked up to find herself alone in the room, her curiosity struck once more and she began to stand and go take a peek under the clothe concealing the painting beneath it. ‘Not another step Possible!’ she heard from somewhere in the house. “I’m not doing anything Shego!” She replied mock insult in her voice only to hear Shego respond ‘You stood and took exactly three and a half steps. Towards the off limits canvas. Sit NOW!’ Looking back to the bed Kim counted the paces, ‘Damn she is good.’
Greystroke chose that moment to wander back in and nearly upended Kim as she rubbed her side along most of Kims leg, the cat was just over mid thigh high at the withers and could easily tip her just from affectionate caressing. As if she were watching Shego called out from where ever she was, ‘That’s right babe keep an eye on the red head she’s dangerous. Keep her from mommies stuff and you’ll get a treat.’ The cat seemed to have been paying attention because the instant she heard ‘treat’ she looked up to Kim and started nudging her backwards, away from the painting Kim was now rather desperate to inspect. “Dammit Shego no fair! I don’t have a pet to do my bidding why should you have one?”
Shego snorted rudely, Kim had several ‘pets’ she just didn’t realize it she thought as she finished prepping the suspicious bowl of ground meat. Shego was not going to leave Greystroke behind for any reason but the cat had problems with flying, specifically she hated to go flying. “Just keep her distracted Peaches, if she see’s what I’m doing in here we may not be able to leave until I can find and load the tranq gun.” She heard Kim gasp loudly but did not hear the response she had expected. She had been fully expecting Kim to protest the idea of shooting the beautiful cat with anything and while Shego would be sorely tempted to show her why that wasn’t the worste of the options available. She did not want to spend the rest of the week patching herself and Kim up, Greystroke really hated to fly. As soon as she was sure the big cat would suspect nothing from the lavish food bowl she had prepared Shego gathered up the medications and slipped them into the bag she had specifically for Greystroke.
She had to cart the cat the world over several times a year on occasion and had learned, the hard way, that not every place she would be going to had the veterinarian skill base to handle so exotic an animal. Walking back into the room from the hidden kitchenette down the hall Shego figured she could see why Kim had not responded, Greystroke had both her front paws wrapped around Kim’s face and was licking her silly, the world saving heroine pinned and laughing so hard she couldn’t breathe by an overgrown tabby. Shego almost wished she had a camera at that moment. “C’mon over here you waste of fur and whiskers you.” She said waving the bowl seductively near the feline’s broad nose. Greystroke all but sprang forward at the enticement, Shego had also known what food the big cat preferred though it had taken a trip to Bueno Nacho to figure it out. The cat liked freshly cooked taco meat and when she could get it, the beans they mixed with. Shego made absolutely sure there were no beans in the house after that first week. Flopping the bowl down and backing away lest she accidentally lose a digit to the cuisinart on four legs Shego sat heavily on the side of the bed.
Kim leaned over and proper her head atop the nearest shoulder Shego was presenting, “Tranq gun eh? Do you use ace or some other brand?” In her line of work, even before she finished school, it had been considered a good idea for Kim to learn about as many of the varied medicines and drugs as possible as she never knew when she might need that knowledge base. In the case of the fur ball hungrily inhaling what looked to be thirty pounds of taco meat the study had probably saved the cats life, twice if you counted Shego taking a liking to it instead of turning it into a new fur wrap. She mentally chided herself over that thought, she had never seen Shego in any type of garment that could have been made from such a beautiful creature and she seriously doubted that Shego went for the real fur look. “It looks like I managed a decent patch job on her foot, she wasn’t favouring it when you found her was she?” She had been curious about that since recognizing the scar as her own handiwork.
Shego shook her head carefully, her own mane was quite unruly and she didn’t want to slap Kim with it. “She does from time to time but when I found here she seemed fine except the wraps had come loose and were working their way off her leg. She must have spent half the day I found her fighting with the stuff.” She turned to face Kim evenly. “You did a great job patching her up but how did she get hurt to begin with? Do you know?” The hot flash of anger that washed over Kims face said it loud and clear, she knew and was none too happy about it. “Let me guess, poachers.” The nod confirmed it, she could tell that something metal had cut the cat’s foreleg quite deeply but beyond that she could only guess. “Well I guess I should thank you Peaches. You fixed her up nicely and got her to trust people, when I found her I was rather sick of people, you included. Don’t look at me like that Princess, you were only stuck in that effn jungle for a week as I recall, I was there for damned near a month and a half, thanks to you, and Drakken.” Shego would have shrugged but Kim still occupied her shoulder. “On the bright side Greystroke and I have been fast friends ever since. Ooh hee hee hee this should be funny.”
Kim pried her jaw out of the futon as she watched Shego giggle like a child. As she rolled around with the large cat the sedative was making the it sluggish, but her playful nature was still going strong, a minute later though, mid leap she lost the battle against the sedative and just kind of flopped down onto Shego who was now playing quite gently with the cat. “I think I can see why you like her so much Shego, she is absolutely gorgeous.”
Shego did not respond for a moment simply snuggling closer to the cat as she drifted off into a sedate slumber. Only once the cat was out cold did she attempt to extricate herself from its heavy paws. Extending a hand to Kim, she pulled the younger woman to a standing position and motioned for her to pick an end of the cat to grab. “Thanks for helping me load her into the carrier. It’s a real bitch to do alone even when she is out cold.” When Kim took the hind paws and got a good grip Shego carefully grabbed the front and the pair carefully negotiated their way into the small room where Shego kept the carrier. “Her attitude got me curious y’know but it was the eyes that sold me, sucker for pretty greens and all that. Especially green eyes.” There was a distinct blush to her cheeks, which Kim had initially not cared for, but as she had gotten to know the woman she noticed along with the blush came a soft radiance, a glow that could only just barely be seen.
“I think I can see the green obsession Shego, though I’m not sure I fully understand it. Green definitely works for you.” She had to adjust her grip lest she drop the cat on its rump, which would undoubtedly piss Shego off. “Hold up I need to get a better grip Shego.” Her right arm was for all accounts healed but it would be a while before it was back to par. Once the cat had been loaded into the carrier and the door shut, they both sat down for a breather. Strong as they both were it had not been that challenging, the cat was heavy but that had not been their primary concern, they took longer than would likely have been necessary but did so to avoid knocking the cat into something along the way. It was tricky enough walking with a load of clothes or food but a sleeping jungle cat made things all the more difficult, not that either woman would complain.
“Ok Shego,” she started as they stepped out of the carrier room. “How do we get to the airport with sleeping beauty there?” Shego stepped out of the room right behind her and mumbled something she could not quite make out. “Come again?”
Shego stopped in her tracks. This could be fun. “We don’t, we missed the scheduled flights out and there won’t be anymore until next week. We go by my … jet and in a few minutes ‘sleeping beauty’ will be loaded and waiting for us.” When she confiscated the house from Drakken she insisted the new lair he had been putting together in the caves under it go as part of the deal, he had only argued for a minute, then she spot welded his upper lip to a table. The deed was signed over ten minutes later, she broke the weld sometime later that afternoon. She stood there expecting a firestorm of protest from Kim but it never came, Kim simply tapped her on the shoulder and shrugged. “So you’re cool with that then?”
“I’m at least partly responsible for us missing the flight so I don’t see that I have any right to complain at this point. Your not planning any aerobatics this time are you?” The last encounter she had had with Shego and a jet had been a rather fast-paced run through over or around nearly every lit billboard and neon sign in greater
“Oh there’s plenty of room Peaches. The carrier has plenty of room for you, you can put your bags in the seat behind me.” Shego laughed as she walked the short distance to her closet and pulled out the single large duffel she would be carrying. “Well, ready to get this show on the road, so to speak.”
Dementor sat brooding over his fresh cup of some new drink being pushed on the global market. Ordinarily he despised chocolate confections but one of his henchmen, perhaps it was one of the henchwomen, eh he didn’t care, one of them had given him a case and he didn’t like to let things go to waste so he chanced drinking a single can. The fresh cup in his hands being the last of the case, he was now plotting how to acquire more on the next raid without his henchman getting any funny ideas about stealing some of it for themselves. He wanted to control the worlds supply of it and greedy hench-people, while expected to be greedy, were not to be trusted with the really important stuff. One of his more competent henchwomen approached and snapped to attention smartly then waited for him to acknowledge her presence before she dropped into relaxed report mode. Her news greatly pleased him and to show his pleasure he allowed her to retain her status, for the time being at least.
Drakken raced into the main offices of R & D Inc. waving a sheaf of papers wildly. Ron made a sweeping motion with his hand attempting to get the Dr. to shut up for a moment but Drakken knew he could not let this information get pushed away. “Stoppable listen damn it! They’re gone! Wade said Shego and Kim dealt with the tracers just like you said and when I ran through the surveillance cameras there wasn’t a sign of them in or near the house.” This caught Ron’s undivided attention and without another word to whomever he was speaking, he hung up the phone, his normally jovial face replaced with the rock solid stone face he wore when he was being most serious. Drakken began to back away nervously, he had learned the hard way that face meant trouble, usually for him.
Betty Director rolled over in her bed to answer the vidphone linking her to G.J.s primary facility, she didn’t realize until after answering the call that perhaps she should have gotten dressed first, or at the very least pulled the bed covers over her a bit better. Will Du would likely need another blood transfusion after they managed to get him stabilized. The news he had been ordered to deliver the instant it arrived had finally come. Kim Possible and Shego, the two biggest players in the game were officially out of the action and whatever Shego had done to keep the crazies at bay had run out. Within the last twenty-four hours there had been a dozen raids all over the world, surprisingly they were all targeting a new soft drink producer. “Until your brother regains his senses … err wakes up, your in charge Kahn. Contact all available agents and scramble to code tangerine.” The female rookies face wilted at the prospect of commanding the organization under a tangerine threat level. Dr. Director generally agreed with the sentiment, a nuclear war would have been easier to clean up after than a threat of that colour ident.
Jim and Tim sat beside their parents as Wade filled them in on the situation up to that point, Kim had not told him not to repeat anything, though he was sure she would have, but even if she had he was never a match for the brain surgeon. He had the inclination that she wouldn’t mind doing an open skull inspection if he refused to answer her questions. She would probably use a bat to open his skull though. “This is why I warned you not to Mrs. Dr. P. I knew that eventually Kim would find out and if she found out from you or even me, it would be bad, but to find out because her arch-nemesis told her it was there. Well … She was pissed.” Right now not even his mother on a ‘no more computers’ kick compared to the fright he was experiencing from the other Possible female who could easily do him serious bodily harm.
Mrs. Possible wasn’t mad at anyone but herself at that point. She had never intended to actually use the tracer but she held no regrets for having it implanted. These days there were far too many young women disappearing and she did not want her only daughter to be one of the thousands that are never found. “It’s not your fault Wade, but since we all partially contributed to this mess.” She cast knowing glances at her husband and sons, “We will all do our best to help out until they return. So whenever there’s a hit to her site call us, one of us will make ourselves available to cover for her.” The look she got from Wade bordered on ludicrous and she understood why he was so skeptical, “I have gone on a few of her missions if you recall young man, I know the sitch.”
Bonnie had spent the first day she had off enjoying a full body seaweed wrap and astrology reading when she heard the noise she had been dreading since the night before. She had been trained to stand in for Kim Possible and while she didn’t regret accepting the job she didn’t know it would interrupt her life so much. She had a new respect for Kim who had been doing this kind of thing since junior high at least. Answering the phone she had been assigned she nodded and answered with short clipped ‘yes’s’ and ‘no’s’ waiting only long enough to get the address and name of the ride who would be taking her there, she just hoped if it was a plane she could actually get it to land before she got off of it. The instant the call was over she jumped out of the reclined seat grabbed her clothes and ran for the door. She fished out the cash she had in one of the pockets of her fighting clothes, dropped it on the counter and flew out the front door. She didn’t realize until she went to buckle herself into the seat that she had forgotten to put her clothes on and there were only a few small pieces of her seaweed wrap still in place, none of which were covering the parts she would have preferred covered.
